Paris · Beirut بيروت

Let the city tell you its story as you walk

Flâne is a guide to Paris and Beirut that opens in your phone’s browser, and once you have chosen a walk and put the phone in your pocket, voices who know the streets tell you where to stand and what you are looking at.

  • 29 walks told for you
  • 7 day trips from Beirut
  • 2 films on how each city grew
  • 128,175 buildings dated in Paris

How a walk works

Put your phone in your pocket and look up

  1. Open the link

Flâne opens in your phone’s browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app.

  2. Choose a walk

Each walk starts by telling you how long it takes and where it goes, and the map takes you to the first stop.

  3. Look where they tell you

At every stop the voices tell you where to stand and what to look for, and the next stop opens by itself when you reach it.

  4. Go at your own pace

Stop for a coffee or come back tomorrow, and save a walk before you set out so it plays without mobile data.

For hotels

Staying at a hotel that works with Flâne?

Scan the card in your room, and the whole guide opens for your stay under your hotel’s name, with its own addresses inside. Hotels, guesthouses and hosts can give it to every guest.

Questions

Before you set out

Do I need to download an app?

Flâne opens in your phone’s browser with nothing to download, and you can add it to your home screen from the browser’s share menu so it opens full screen like any app.

Does it work without mobile data?

Save a walk before you set out and it plays offline, with its voices, its photographs and its map.

What does it cost?

Each city opens for $29, paid once, and every city Flâne opens is yours for $129 a year, or for 40% less when you are the guest of a hotel that works with Flâne. The Beirut guide opens to every traveller soon, and guests of the hotels that work with Flâne have it free for their stay.

Which languages does it speak?

The Paris guide speaks English and French, voices included. The Beirut guide is in English, and Maya and Karim say the names of streets and dishes the way Beirutis say them.

Do I need an account?

Neither guide asks for an account, and your progress is kept on your phone.
